GaMA extends an invitation to a meeting with Anna Cymer, author of the book Długie lata 90. Architektura w Polsce czasów transformacji (The Extended 1990s. Architecture in Poland of the Time of Transformation), to be interviewed by Anna Bieliz.
Anna Cymer’s book paints a panorama of the architecture of the decade and orders a typology of the buildings of that time. The author shows that the 1990s did not end at the end of the decade, but stretched over a much longer period, from the time when the ideas of postmodernism became more widespread in Poland and architects could finally set up their own studios, to the beginning of the 21st century, when buildings based on earlier designs were still being constructed.
The book is a product not only of numerous readings and desk studies but also of the author's many journeys across Poland in search of the enthusiasm, colours, and experiments of that time. The extensive text comes with the author’s nearly 200 colour photographs of buildings from various cities and towns in Poland, a bibliography, and an index of people and architectural studios and towns.
