We will introduce you to the practice of colouring photographs using tea from tea gardens. We will travel through time and space by creating our own photographic prints with the cyanotype, one of the noble techniques of photography which uses photosensitive “Prussian blue”. This will be a springboard for further creative experiments with tea as our dye. In their work, the participants will use negatives from the moderator’s travels to Asian tea plantations. There will also be tea tastings and stories about these trips to Nepal, Myanmar, Borneo, and Sumatra. In a sense, the works will be postcards from these travel stories.
