"When I grow up I wanna be a firefighter"
Mixing autobiographical and art history references, the performance thinks the role of the artist at work and of his/hers body in it - "What is it we do when we do what we do?" Connecting the mediums of painting and performance, it explores the tensions between subject and object, activity and passivity, productivity and free time: Are such binary divisions possible on the labor of art? At what cost does one capitalize on one's practice or on one's self? What are we selling, why and to whom?
The performance will take place at the gallery in selected days for 3-4 hours straight (dates bellow). The visitors are invited to come and go at any time, to spend some time watching or even to directly approach the artist. The formula of open-rehearsal displays to the viewer the work-in-progress, allowing him to witness the development of the piece. Each day will be different (or sometimes the same but different).
