Modern Kintsugi
a workshop for beginners
28.09.2024, 11 am

Modern Kintsugi is a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese art of pottery repair. In traditional Kintsugi, broken vessels are repaired by joining the cracks using lacquer and gold or other precious metal. This practice has a deeply philosophical meaning, emphasising the beauty of passing time and the acceptance of imperfection. Modern Kintsugi continues this tradition in the present-day context. It allows the use of contemporary materials and techniques, such as epoxy resin, metallic paints, etc., which enable an enhanced expression of creativity. The Modern Kintsugi. A workshop for beginners includes an introduction to the history and philosophy of Kintsugi, the step-by-step manufacture of a decorative plate in Modern Kintsugi, starting from the breaking of a vessel, joining elements, and ultimately gilding – materials and tools.

The workshop is exclusively for adult participants
