Nowolipie Group was established in 2005. It originated in a pottery occupational therapy workshop for persons with disabilities led by Paweł Althamer as of 1994 at the Nowolipki State Art Centre. Piecing together pottery items turned into creation. The meetings offered a chance to talk about art (including the art of life). Our Paweł has become a famous sculptor. Just as we had formed a certain community, our works began to be joint creations. Paweł deliberately put into practice his theory that "everyone is a creator, only some need to be helped to discover this". Many young (and other) artists, volunteers or friends joined us for a shorter or longer time. The painter Joanna Świerczyńska, who co-teaches with Paweł, joined us. The range of our activities has broadened. Now we also do painting, drawing and performance. More and more often we go outside our studio. The formula remains unchanged: each work is the outcome of a joint action. Everyone, regardless of their age and degree of ability, is invited to paint with us at the exhibition Policies of (In)Accessibility, Citizens with Disabilities and Allied People. There will be time to talk and get to know each other; the product of our meeting in the form of a painting on the wall will remain in the gallery until the end of the exhibition.
