The October workshops held as part of Poznań Women’s Week invite participants to explore natural plant-based dyes. Fabric dyeing, practiced for thousands of years, combines traditional craftsmanship, mindfulness, and a relationship with nature. Natural pigments evolve over time, reacting to light and water, reflecting the cyclical processes of the natural world and emphasizing the organic character of colour.

During the session, participants will learn about the properties of selected dye plants and ethical methods of sourcing materials, as well as the profiles of women recognized in this field. Each participant will then dye a piece of linen fabric independently, which can be used after the workshop according to individual preference, for example, to create a cushion cover, bag, tablecloth, wall decoration, or cosmetic pouch.

moderator: Jadwiga Subczyńska (Tinctuarium) — artist and animator, graduate of the Faculty of Photography at the University of the Arts in Poznań. In her practice, she combines plant essences with natural fabrics, working intuitively and through a process. She moreover explores other media, including casts made from plant-based gelatine, 3D holographic installations, and art books. A winner of the ON Award at the OFF FESTIVAL in Bratislava (2018).
