Light, forever associated with something positive and safe, is the central theme of the workshop. Light symbolism aims to evoke pleasant, joyful memories and dispel external and internal darkness.

The workshop will combine two activities: an art session during which participants will decorate paper lanterns and a combination of the finished works into a single piece; we will create a shared three-dimensional object. The other part will be more construction-oriented and will allow for a joint display of the completed lanterns. The workshop will provide an opportunity to meet, talk, and swap stories. We will furnish all art supplies, as well as sweet snacks and tea. This event is open to adults.

moderation: Paweł Błęcki – a visual artist, creator of objects and installations, photographer, pioneer and organiser of participatory initiatives. Lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. A graduate of the Doctoral School at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Intermedia at the University of Arts in Poznań, and Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He also studied Archaeology and Cultural Studies at the University of Gdańsk and Photography at the FAMU Film School in Prague. His art addresses themes related to psychoeducation, mental well-being and psychology. In addition, he explores questions of shared care, ecology, sociology, and politics. He is a co-founder of the art and research group Biuro Wspólnej Aktywności (Shared Activity Office), which aims to promote best practices in the areas of accessibility and production in the arts. He is a co-founder of the artivist collective Wspólnota Międzygatunkowa+, which works to protect nature. His works have been exhibited at, among others: the Łaźnia Center for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk, the BWA in Wrocław, the BWA in Zielona Góra, the Kronika Center for Contemporary Art in Bytom, the Gdańsk City Gallery, the Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, the Museum of Art in Łódź, as well as at the Narracje Festival and the Survival Festival.
