The artistic duo, Wojciech Skowron and Karolina Witowska, invite audiences to a unique performance of image and sound. Both the music and the visual compositions are created in real time, in what is a form of ongoing meditation. Viewers may relax on multiple levels, allowing themselves to be carried by the wave of soothing music and drawn imagery.
The aim of the project is to calm the nervous system and to direct attention towards the senses of hearing and sight in a manner not typically employed in everyday experience, to move closer towards oneself. It may be seen as a form of meditation with open eyes.
The draughtswoman creates images on a tablet, which are simultaneously projected onto a large screen, enabling the audience to follow the movement of her line. The instrumentalist performs on Tibetan singing bowls, bells, and oriental percussion instruments, the timbre and melodic structures of which remain in dynamic equilibrium with the image. The music draws upon the images, which in turn complement the soundscape.
The underlying idea of the EYE and EAR project was to envelop the audience in sound and image. The session will take between one hour and one and a half hours.
