The People Speak is an art collective from East London. For almost thirty years, we have been leading conversations, animating communities, and collaborating with organizations in the UK and Europe: museums, universities, cultural institutions, and civic groups.
It all starts with Talkaoke – our iconic talk show, created in 1997. A round, illuminated table, the host in the center, and you decide what we talk about. No script, no imposed topics. Just people, questions, and real listening. We believe that conversation is art and that the most interesting things happen where different perspectives meet.
In our Creative Communication Workshops using Talkaoke, we teach this art through practice. Do you work in culture, community, or education? Or perhaps you're simply wondering how to communicate with someone who thinks very differently from you? We especially welcome employees of cultural institutions, curators, and artists, but the workshop is open to everyone.
What you'll take away from the workshop:
- Tools for creative group conversations
- Confidence in speaking and the ability to truly hear others
- Ways to address difficult topics without unnecessary tension
- Techniques for finding what unites us, even when almost everything divides us
No experience is necessary. Just curiosity and a willingness to come.
