Community Music
28.07.2024, 3 pm

In line with the policy of equal opportunities, community music-making is open to a wide variety of social groups, including persons with disabilities. Regardless of their musical skills, age and ability, any person can become part of a musical group, discovering new instruments, songs, musical styles and building a sense of musical community together with players. In an open community music session, musicians and music therapists will invite participants to form a musical ensemble. The wide range of instruments and musical styles will enable the participants to find their own way to have fun. They can sing, play instruments, dance or just listen.

We meet outdoors, under the awning on Quadro Street.

Moderators: a team of musicians and music therapists from the Nordoff Robbins Foundation Poland.

The Foundation works on the belief that music plays an important role in the education and integration of the general public. It holds open music sessions in public places, treatment centres as well as special and educational facilities throughout Poland. Playing music together provides an opportunity for diverse community groups to come together: children, adults, seniors, including people with disabilities and those in crisis of homelessness. The aim of the events is to instil in the players a sense of belonging to the team they make up together. We believe that, in a broader perspective, it is the experience of bonding that motivates the community to act for the common good.
