Join us for a workshop on embroidering field flowers such as cornflowers, poppies, mallows, tansy, following the designs of Ewa Cieniak. The artist has prepared sketches which workshop participants will transfer onto colourful materials and embroider as delightfully as they can. You do not need to know the stitches. Nor will we learn them during the workshop. We will simply use a needle and thread to colour the flowers of our choice. Realistic reproduction is not necessary. It will be possible, if not advisable, to interpret the initial sketches creatively and imaginatively. We encourage you to come and spend time creating together, talking and sharing yourself and your experience.
Ewa Cieniak is a graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Design at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw. Embroidery is one of the techniques she uses, yet she increasingly taps into the unlimited possibilities offered by fabric, fibre and thread. She explores the performative and sculptural potential of these materials. Constantly searching and experimenting, she is eager to learn about people, their faces and emotions. She puts a premium on stories about relationships, both between people and other beings on Earth.
