A Whale’s Tooth
a lecture by Krystyna Jędrzejewska-Szmek
8.10.2024, 6 pm

Come to listen to a lecture by artist and biologist Krystyna Jędrzejewska-Szmek. The speaker will talk about her artistic practice blending art, science and politics, in which she addresses the relationship between humans and other animal species and explores the coexistence of humans and plants. The lecture will focus on presenting the phenomenon of ‘shifting baselines’, describing the gradual change in socially accepted norms and expectations towards the environment over generations. On the basis of recent projects, including The Whale's Tooth, the artist will address the significance of the concept referred to and invite a discussion on the effectiveness of its use through the tools of art.
