Urban meadows
premiera: 21.07.2020

If the city decided to cut the grass less frequently than they do now, the urban lawns would soon become urban meadows – the areas where vegetation can freely grow and enrich itself with new species. The activists from urge us to start appreciating green areas and leave them unutilised, that is stop mowing them so frequently. Thanks to this, the city would have lesser impact on climate change and would reduce its negative effects; it would also increase water retention, reduce the urban heat island effect, increase biodiversity, and result in the better quality of green areas in the city. Sometimes it is difficult to understand its great importance, mostly because the residents of the city got used to close-cropped lawns, so it is a good idea to listen to biologists and ecologists.
