The workshop participants will be invited to collectively imagine a future world, one in which human beings and nature are able to coexist in greater balance. Our point of departure will be the exhibition of works by Michal Kern titled Searching for Balance, accompanied by a brief discussion on what cities, schools, everyday life, and relations with the natural environment might look like several decades from now.
Working in small groups (two to three persons), the participants will then produce a poster presenting a selected idea for a better world. This may take the form of a vision of a garden city, a new social practice, a transformation in ways of living, or a symbolic narrative of cooperation between humans and nature. The work will employ drawing, collage, and recycled materials, with special emphasis on a simple yet expressive mode of communication.
The workshops will provide an opportunity to develop imagination, dialogue, and collaboration. Finally, the posters produced will be viewed collectively, followed by a discussion of the ideas for change articulated in the participants’ works.
Our aim is to articulate a visual vision of a better future—ecological, empathetic, and attentive.
