The workshops accompany the current exhibition by Hubert Czerepok, The Enemy Is Love, and invite pupils to engage creatively with language, error, and shifts in meaning. The point of departure is linguistic mistakes, slips of the tongue, and “wandering”, or “straying”, seen not so much as a failure, but as a source of meaning, new quality, and reflection. During the session, the students will take part in an artistic activity involving the design of a T-shirt featuring an original slogan, followed by its production.
The workshops foster linguistic sensitivity, critical thinking, and creative courage. They demonstrate that error can serve as a tool for thought and action, and that contemporary art can provide a space for asking questions. One of the aims is to familiarise young people with error, which removes them from the school-based grading system and relocates them within the sphere of creativity. Error ceases here to be a sign of failure or shame and instead becomes an instrument of meaning, play, and expression.
The sessions are adapted to the age of the participants and require no prior knowledge of art. They will be preceded by a short guided tour of the exhibition and a discussion.
We provide T-shirts and all art materials; however, if the students want, they may also bring their own T-shirts that they would like to paint on.
