The Tale of Prince Hussein and the Flying Carpet
A kamishibai performance and an art workshop for children
6.07.2024, 12.30

We welcome children aged 6 to 10 years to a performance of The Tale of Prince Hussein and the Flying Carpet. Kamishibai is the Japanese-derived art of reading aloud and storytelling. The technique uses cardboard panels with illustrations and a wooden butai box, which resembles a marionette theatre. The illustrations spin stories where each panel represents another part of the tale. After listening to the story and briefly discussing its moral, each child and their carers will have the opportunity to make their own magic carpet to take home.

Moderated by Maria Ratajczak, a theatre aficionado and trained theatrologist. She enjoys working as an animator because she believes that art has a powerful impact and stimulates the development of every person and the community of which they are a part. For years, she has held art workshops for children and kamishibai performances and has coordinated educational projects.
