Spring Art Therapy #4
Boundless Imagination – a structural plaster painting
23.05.2024, 10 am - noon

Creating paintings from plaster is great fun. Making such a painting is very simple and guarantees a "wow effect".

What are plaster paintings? These are paintings on canvas which are created using plaster of Paris. We make irregular movements on the canvas with a spatula, sometimes painting shapes such as circles. Plaster paintings have an interesting texture, making each one unique and one-of-a-kind. You can make interesting motifs yourself without great artistic or manual skills.

To make a plaster painting, you need a frame with a canvas on which you can paint with plaster. The finished plaster of Paris is applied with a spatula. It can also be used to create different patterns. The spatulas come in different sizes, allowing you to choose the right one for the design and format of the work. Combining gypsum with paints we come up with colours. To create smaller drawings in a plaster painting, brushes are also useful, e.g. to make small dots.

With loose plaster pigments we will create colourful and at the same time convex images.
