School groups are welcome to join us for an art and construction workshop that familiarises the participants with the tenement houses in Poznań.
We will start off with a fun activity to create a building.
The base for constructing a building will be a flat shape prepared from cardboard; several different bases will be available.
In the course of the work, the trainer will talk to the participants about scale and composition, and introduce them to the concept of urban planning, which will make them realise that we will design not so much single buildings, but the entire block side, which in turn will form a market, square or street.
We will distinguish between buildings with regard to their function, size, tradition, and local conditions. We will also identify building elements, e.g. storeys, facades, roofs, windows, doors, portals, gates, and entrances.
Furthermore, we will discuss the notion of an urban interior, traffic route and spatial order.
We will encourage children to use their imagination and create truly unique buildings.
Then, through a team effort, we will create an entire side of the old market square.
All the prepared buildings (townhouses) will be arranged and fixed onto a board to constitute one side of the market (square), respecting the principles of urban planning to form a harmonious whole, i.e. spatial order. Finally, we will take pictures of the newly-created section of the old market square.
