Why do we actually decorate our homes for Christmas? The workshop intends to trace the origins of this tradition and discuss the forms and colours of popular decorations in terms of their symbolism. We will then compare them with our modern customs, focusing on the ecological aspect. We will consider the problem of producing tonnes of Christmas decorations-related rubbish each year and what can be done about it.

We will invite the children to make decorations with their own hands, modern in form but using traditional materials. In addition, by using second-hand items such as plants, wool, fabric, paper, and porcelain paste, we will try to make interesting Christmas decorations out of environmentally and people-friendly materials.
