"We humans destroy the Earth through our choices. Earthly Lament is an expression of our common despair and a call to restriction. We sing old mourning songs in new times and new situations, lamenting not the death of an individual, but the demise of ecosystems. We sing old mourning songs from the rural tradition in a selection suitable for mourning a climate disaster, the extinction of species and the precarious future of life on Earth. Referring to the changes to which the lyrics of songs about the ultimate things have been subject for hundreds of years, we also create new variants of lyrics". The above statement demonstrates how Marta Tarnowska and Anna Jurkiewicz, the originators of community chants for Earth, perceive Earthly Lament. The workshop will be led by members of the Odłam Źdźbło singing and performative group from Tricity who use white voice in their artistic practice.
