Between layers of memory
14,15.03.2018, godz. 9.00-12.00

We invite a group of children and teenagers aged 11-15 to participate in a creative workshop. Memory is going to be the theme of our meeting. We will reflect on the process of creating memories. By creating drawings on translucent films, we will trace their development. We will consider why some of them disappear and others, despite the passage of time, remain alive. Together with the characters of Krystyna Piotrowska's film I Left Poland, Because ... we will return to their memories from 1968. Together, we will try to ponder on the role of feelings in this process. In our drawings we will try to identify emotions. We will discuss the question of memories overlapping and constantly changing. We will talk about possible ways of recording this process (films, diaries, photos, drawings). We will demonstrate our experience of memory in the form of multi-layered artistic work. In order to better understand the subject of memory, the creative workshop will be combined with viewing the current exhibition.

The project by Krystyna Piotrowska I Left Poland, Because ... touches on traumatic events from contemporary Polish history. Persecution, emigration and a search for one's homeland are still topical. The aim of the exhibition is to listen to stories about individual lives of people affected by the events of March 1968.

Classes are held on a given day twice (9am-10:30am 1st group, 10:30am-12 noon 2nd group). Admission to the classes is free, participants are chosen on the first come, first served basis. Reservations can be made by phone: 61 852 9501 or by e-mail: joanna.tekla@arsenal.art.pl.
