The artworks were created during the Quarantine performance, which took place at the Oficyna Gallery in Poznań, run by Jakub Borkowicz. During the performance, which lasted 40 hours, the artist juggled balls dipped in paint, leaving marks in the space. The work consists of three framed drawings (100×70) and a video (5 min). Quarantine was created in consultation with Prof. Leszek Knaflewski at the Intermedia Studio IV – Audiosphere, University of the Arts Poznań.

Kuba Borkowicz, born 1989, is a visual artist. He studied Intermedia at the University of the Arts Poznań. In his artistic practice, he concentrates on the process of creation. His works explore the themes of infinity, randomness, change, and reproduction, and investigate the relationship between art and the public space. Fascinated by circus art, Borkowicz seeks ways to incorporate it into his artistic practice. He employs, among others, painting, installation, performance, tattoo, video, and photography. For several years since 2014, he ran the Oficyna Gallery in Poznań. As a curator, he has collaborated with the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw.

Works of art by young artists were purchased thanks to the Poznań Support action initiated by Poznań councillors. The programme was aimed at supporting artists who found themselves in a difficult economic situation brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic by purchasing valuable works for the city’s art collection. In 2021, the 2nd edition of the programme was organised.
